| dc.description | The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of kinesio taping on upper trapezius pain in patients with myofascial pain syndrome (MPS). Fourteen participants whose ages ranged from 20-40 years were included in the study. The subjects were divided into 2 groups of 7 subjects each: 1) Taping group and 2) Placebo group. Pressure pain threshold (PPT) and pain intensity were evaluated by pressure algometer and visual analogue scale (VAS) respectively before and after taping. The taping group received I-strip kinesio tape application on the right upper trapezius muscle with tension while the placebo group received I-strip kinesio tape application without any tension. The tope was removed after 2 days of application. The results presented that there were statistically significant differences of PPT (pre-test: 1.96±0.53 lbs/cm, post-test: 2.63±0.76 Ibs/cm, p-value = 0.01) and VAS (pre-test: 2.90±2.06, post-test: 1.79±2.15, p-value = 0.00) in the toping group. Significant differences were not found in the placebo group. When comparing mean differences of post-PPT and post- VAS between the 2 groups, significant differences were not found. This study provides support that 2-day kinesio taping can be an effective taping application to decrease pain in patients with MPS. | |
| dc.description.abstract | การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาผลของผ้าเทปคิเนซิโอ (Kinesio tape) ต่อความเจ็บปวดของกล้ามเนื้อไหล่ส่วนบนในผู้ป่วยกลุ่มอาการปวดกล้ามเนื้อและเยื่อพังผืดมัยโอฟาสเชี่ยล (Myofascial pain syndrome: MPS) จำนวน 14 คน อาสาสมัครเป็นผู้ที่มีอายุระหว่าง 20-40 ปี ถูกแบ่งออกเป็น 2 กลุ่ม กลุ่มละ 7 คน ได้แก่ กลุ่มทดลอง (Taping group) และกลุ่มควบคุม (Placebo group) อาสาสมัครทุกคนเข้ารับการประเมินระดับการ รับรู้ความเจ็บปวดด้วยแรงกด (Pressure poin threshold: PPT) ด้วยเครื่องมือ Pressure algometer และประเมินความรู้สึกเจ็บปวดด้วย Visual analogue scale: VAS ก่อนและหลังการพันผ้าเทป อาสาสมัครทั้ง 2 กลุ่มได้รับการพันผ้าเทปด้วยเทคนิค I-strip ที่บริเวณกล้ามเนื้อไหล่ส่วนบนข้างขวา (Upper tropezius muscle) เป็นระยะเวลา 2 วัน โดยกลุ่มทดลองได้รับการพันผ้าเทปแบบให้แรงตึง ส่วนกลุ่มควบคุมได้รับการพันผ้าเทปแบบไม่ให้แรงตึง จากผลการศึกษาพบว่า กลุ่มทดลองมีระดับความเจ็บปวดลดลงอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (PPT; pre-test: 1.96±0.53 Ibs/cm", post-test: 2.63±0.76 Ibs/cm , p-value = 0.01 และ VAS; pre-test: 2.90±2.06, post-test: 1.79±2.15, p-value = 0.00) ส่วนกลุ่มควบคุมนั้นไม่พบความแตกต่าง เมื่อเปรียบเทียบความแตกต่างของค่าเฉลี่ยหลังการพันผ้าเทประหว่างกลุ่มทดลองและกลุ่มควบคุม พบว่า ไม่มีความแตกต่างอย่างมีนัยสำคัญของค่า PPT และ VAS สรุปว่าการพันผ้าเทปคิเนซิโอที่บริเวณกล้ามเนื้อไหล่ส่วนบนเป็นระยะเวลา 2 วัน ช่วยลดอาการปวดที่เกิดจากโรค MPS ได้ | |
